EU pledges to deepen its partnership with Ghana, calling for continued peace and stability as the foundation for progress.

The European Union has called on Ghana to preserve its established peace and stability, saying those are critical foundations for expanding collaboration and promoting sustainable development. The appeal came from the EU’s new Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnebach, during a courtesy meeting with Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak in Accra on Tuesday, October 14.

Ambassador Skinnebach voiced his intention to raise the level of EU support toward Ghana, pointing to the nation’s significant potential for growth and development.  He emphasized the EU’s interest in working with Ghana in ways that maintain stability, encourage investment, and foster local advancement.

Minister Mohammed-Mubarak, for his part, assured the Ambassador of full cooperation, pledging the Interior Ministry’s efforts to further shared goals.  He highlighted planned cooperation in areas such as digitising operations within the Ghana Prisons Service to improve inmate management, and strengthening the National Peace Council’s capacity for preventing conflict.

Additionally, the Minister expressed gratitude for the work of the former EU Ambassador, Irchad Razaaly, and thanked the EU for its ongoing contributions to Ghana’s development agenda.
