President John Dramani Mahama officially broke ground on a large-scale sports complex at Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO), marking a major investment in youth athletics and infrastructure. The ceremony, held during GHANASCO’s 65th anniversary celebrations, underscores the government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent in schools.
The planned complex is impressively multi-functional: it will include a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a multipurpose court, making it suitable for a variety of sporting disciplines. This design is meant to foster talent across different sports among students.

In his remarks, President Mahama emphasized the importance of combining education with sports for youth development. He noted that the new facility will not only provide a venue for training and competition but also help build a stronger sports culture within the school community.
The project is expected to elevate GHANASCO’s role in sports at the regional and national level, giving students access to high-quality facilities that could help them pursue athletic as well as academic excellence.
