Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca confirms Cole Palmer will miss six more weeks with a groin injury, deepening the club’s injury troubles this season.

Chelsea star Cole Palmer will remain out of action for six more weeks due to a groin injury, manager Enzo Maresca confirmed on Friday. The extended recovery period deals another blow to Chelsea’s campaign as the club continues to grapple with multiple injuries across key positions.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Cole Palmer will be sidelined for an additional six weeks due to a recurring groin injury.

Palmer first sustained the injury in August but returned briefly, scoring in matches against Brentford and Bayern Munich, before aggravating it during Chelsea’s 2–1 defeat to Manchester United in September.

“I was wrong about the timeline,” Maresca admitted in a press briefing. “He needs to be out for six more weeks. We try to protect Cole as much as we can. The most important thing is when he comes back, he is fully fit.”

The coach noted that Chelsea’s medical staff are doing their best but cautioned that recovery is not straightforward. “The medical staff are not magicians … We hope those six weeks will be enough. We need to see it week by week,” he added.

With Palmer out, Chelsea will miss his services in matches against Nottingham Forest, Ajax (Champions League), Sunderland, and other upcoming fixtures.

His absence raises concerns over his ability to reclaim a spot in the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup, given the stiff competition in midfield and attack. Palmer. Defender Benoît Badiashile is out until December with a muscle issue, and Levi Colwill is recovering from an ACL injury. Other players, including Moisés Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, and Pedro Neto, missed training but may return soon.

Chelsea currently sit seventh in the Premier League, with 11 points from seven games, placing additional pressure on the squad to cope without one of their key attacking talents.
